Free Modern Embroidery Sampler

This pattern is in a lovely sampler style - designed to teach you 8 basic hand embroidery stitches. These samplers are easy to make with spare materials at home - you can change it according to your own colour schemes; or just grab some scrap fabric and spare threads, and get stitching! The example here was made in a 6 inch hoop, on teal Klona cotton. I used DMC threads in colours 602 (bright pink), 3801 (coral/red), 3765 (blue), 972 (yellow), 3812 (teal), E168 (silver), 327 (purple), 3853 (orange), and 916 (dark pink). I made this sampler as a way to experiment with colours for new projects. I knew I wanted to use the teal fabric - so the next stage was to choose my favourite colour combinations! I've always loved DMC's turquoise coloured 3812, and have used it in loads of my projects - including the peacock and the hummingbird designs. Combined with some of the other jewel tones that I've previously used in the elephant design (one of my favourites), plus a dash of silver, I'm really enjoying the colour palette that emerged! I'm excited to start working on new designs, using this sampler as a reference point - watch this space for new developments!

I've even put together a short video showing you each stage of the process - check out the rest of my stitch guides here for all the tutorials you'll need to complete the project!
